We urge elected officials everywhere to begin restoring confidence in democracy by announcing your intention to take
A) I will immediately enact new regulations to prevent lying or cheating for personal gain in public life, as has been done to protect fair and honest trading in business. 2) Money Out of Politics – one small personal contribution per year, no corporate contributions, no back doors, no exceptions.
3) Fair Election Standards – independent commission to establish and protect fair representation for all; voting rights, standard election process, candidate standards, party formation, political platform communication standards.

To make the 5 Things Pledge work, the
1.) Send your MP an email demanding they take the Pledge before the Federal Election.
2.) Tell everyone you know to do the same.
THIS IS IMPORTANT: Politicians must have a mandate to do these 5 Things. That is: Elected officials are only motivated by what they're sure their voters want. If this is going to work, it must turn into a mass movement, quickly, before the Federal Election. That means you need to do a good enough job of getting your friends on board, that their friends will do the same thing and keep building a broad base of support, all across the country, as fast as possible. Most things will pass in Parliament with a simple majority (50%+1) of MP's votes. Some aspects of the 5 Things will require a 60% majority in Parliament in order to pass. If every Canadian, who cares about making the world better, gets behind this, it is possible and if you're worried about the huge amount of work this will be, consider the massive positive effect it will have on the rest of the world, if we get it done.
Let's work together for a few weeks and see if Canada can show the world how democracy should work. Let's restore some hope.
